World Youth Skills Day 2025: Celebrating Our Digital Literacy Journey
On this World Youth Skills Day, we join the global community in celebrating youth empowerment through skills development—especially digital skills, which are more critical than ever.
At African Soul Initiative, we've spent the past six years bridging the digital divide in Ugandan communities. Since 2019, our hands-on ICT holiday programs have trained youth in essential computer skills—Microsoft Office, internet research, computer repair, and digital entrepreneurship.
Young people like Janet, 18, now create CVs and apply for jobs confidently. Others, like Sulaiman, 22, have launched small businesses using the skills they gained from our training. These stories, shared through platforms like GlobalGiving, remind us that even basic digital skills can change lives.
Our approach is simple: community-led, practical, and empowering. We focus on building digital confidence and opening doors for youth to thrive in today's world.
As we mark this day, we reaffirm our commitment to reaching more youth, expanding our training programs, and building a future where every young soul has access to skills that matter.
Thank you to all our supporters for believing in this mission.
